By default you will only receive certain types of notifications in the form of emails. The default notifications are set up to be beneficial for most users. However, if you have different preferences, you are able to change what types of notifications you receive as shown in the Changing Email Notifications section of this article.
If you are interested in receiving notifications on your phone, you will need to download the Pulse app, as shown in the Using the Pulse App section of this article.
Changing Email Notifications
To change email notification settings:
- Click on the student profile in the top right corner of Brightspace.
- Click Notifications from the drop-down menu.
- Alter any notification settings you wish to change by checking the box under Instant Notifications.
Please Note: Although you are able to change notification settings to match your preferences, it is recommended to receive some kind of notification for Announcements in Brightspace as they are a useful tool used by instructors to get important information to students.
If you want to receive push notifications from your Brightspace courses then you will need to download the Brightspace Pulse App.
Changing Pulse App Notification Settings
- The Pulse app will prompt you to Find your school or institution. Type in “Missouri State University” and select the correct option from the search results.
- Log in to Brightspace using your Missouri State Account.
- After logging in, your courses should be accessible through the app. To change notification settings, click the University logo in the top left of the app.
- Click Settings.
- Click Push Notifications.
- Enable which options you would like to receive notifications for.
Viewing Notifications in the Pulse App
To view notifications, tap the Notifications tab on the bottom right in the Pulse App homepage.
