If you want to require students to use Respondus LockDown Browser for a quiz in your course, you can follow the directions in this article.
Enable Respondus LockDown Browser for a Quiz in Brightspace.
- Ensure that your quiz has been created within Brightspace.
- Navigate to Assessments in the navbar, then click Quizzes from the drop-down menu.

- Click LockDown Browser.

- Locate the quiz you wish to require LockDown Browser.
- Click the arrow to the left of the quiz, then click Settings from the menu.

- Select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam. You can also optionally add a password that students must enter to access the quiz. You will need to provide this password to them.

- Expand the Advanced Settings box and look through the optional settings. Click the explain button to learn more about each setting.

- If you don’t want to require proctoring on the quiz, you can click Save + Close at the bottom of the page.
Enable Respondus Monitor
- To enable proctoring, select Require Respondus Monitor (automated proctoring) for this exam under the Proctoring section.

- Look through the Startup Sequence settings. Students will be required to complete these steps before starting the quiz. Most of these settings are optional and can be changed.
- Change any of the final settings under Face Detection Options, Recording Options, and Advanced Settings. Click the explain button to learn more about each setting.

- Click Save + Close. You should see Requires Respondus LockDown Browser + Webcam added to the quiz title.
Reviewing Respondus Monitor Videos
- If you required Respondus Monitor, you can access student videos.
- Return to the LockDown Browser Dashboard in the Brightspace course.
- Click the arrow next to the quiz, then click Class Results.
- Click the + (plus sign) button to expand one of the students in the roster. This roster also details the date, time, duration, review priority, and grade (if available) for the quiz.
- View the details from the Startup Sequence and the exam session. These are shown in the thumbnails.
- Click a thumbnail to view the video from the time indicated.
- Videos can be marked as reviewed or have comments added by the instructor.
